Welcome to Fighter Squadron One Zero One, the Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) for the F-14B Tomcat. Based at NAS Oceana, Virginia, this squadron trains aircrew to fly and fight in the Tomcat and represent CVW8 in the DCS universe. As you begin this challenging and exciting period of learning to fly the finest fighter aircraft ever built in the history of the the world, we’d like to offer you some information that will help you begin your time with us as smoothly as possible. For the purposes of training in Eagle Dynamics “Digital Combat Simulator World”, NAS Oceana and the Virginia Capes will be represented on the DCS Caucasus map by Tiblisi air base located in the South East portion of the map. All VF-101 training sorties and flights will generate from the ramp at Tiblisi and end at that location. The training and exercise airspace is immediatelyoffshore to the west.
Since experience with DCS varies from person to person and the Tomcat is a brand new module, students will be required to complete the entire Tomcat Training and Educational Sequence. It is not designed to be flexible like the Hornet syllabus and student's who do not finish in 4 weeks will be required to revert to their previous aircraft to join the wing on deployment.
Good luck and we’ll see you out there!
